June 2003

June 2003

June began with a week of  maintenance, installation of electrical bits and pieces and getting familiar with Pactor/Nav Computer and connections to GPS. Rather sticky weather.

8 June   Robert and Edward arrived on time from Finland via Athens and we prepared for departure towards Methoni.

9 June  We made a short familiarisation trip.

We departed the fuel dock 1030 and anchored in
2.8 metres i a flat calm Methoni bay 1850
                    40.6 nm

Thereafter we had little wind for the entire passage to Malta.

Much of the time was calm with sea mist and much dependence on the radar.

The crew took over the navigation but nothing surprising occured until we were approaching Valetta on 12June.......

We were evidently about to become part of  a Classical epic.       The man in the motor boat was not entirely happy.
We were actually under sail on one of the few occasions on the passage and the Argonauts were clearly motoring.
The Collision Regulations were temporarily suspended!!
